It has nutritional characteristics that match with peptone from gelatine like cat. no. 48622. It is recommended for use in antibiotic assay media yielding low but reliable and reproducible growth levels and in media for fermentations studies like e.g. MacConkey Agar. Free flowing powder. Soluble in distilled water. 1 % aqueous solution remains clear without haziness even after autoclaving at 121 °C for 15 minutes.
